Adding WeChat official accounts

Important: The Oracle Eloqua WeChat app has been removed from the Oracle Cloud Marketplace and is no longer available for download. For customers with the app enabled, the app will remain active in its current form until December 1, 2022, after which the app will be sunset and no longer be available for use.

You can add a WeChat official account if you have an existing installation of the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app. You can add up to a maximum of five official accounts on the same WeChat open platform.

Prerequisites

When you add a WeChat official account for use with the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app, you must first do the following:

  • Have a pre-existing installation of the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app.
  • Authorize one or more WeChat official accounts that you want to connect to Eloqua.
  • To determine whether the official account is authorized yet, the account administrator can open it, click the profile icon, and look for a check mark in the Type section:

For details about how to authorize a WeChat official account, refer to kf.qq.com.
  • All your service accounts must be registered in the same WeChat open platform if you want to link followers via a UnionID. You can register a maximum of five service accounts on the same WeChat open platform.
  • Your organization's WeChat official accounts must be registered in mainland China. To register an account, go to the following WeChat platform registration page and follow the instructions: mp.weixin.qq.com.
  • To capture activity that is not associated with a specific Eloqua campaign, you must create and activate a default campaign and record its ID so that you can enter it in the Default Campaign ID box. For example, unfollowing is not associated with other campaigns, so such actions are associated with the default campaign. Set the default campaign's end date as far in the future as possible and set up a notification to renew it. Once you create the campaign, you do not need to specify any steps in the campaign and it can remain empty.
  • Configure fields for the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app. The WeChat OpenID field is required and others are recommended to support common Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app use cases.

  5. Scan the QR code with the account administrator's personal WeChat ID to authorize the official account's addition to the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app.
  6. Select either the subscription or service account type.
  7. Select the Oracle Eloqua contact field that your account will use to store OpenIDs by selecting it from the OpenID Field list.

The default campaign is used to capture activities that are not associated with a specific campaign message. For example, some follower activities such as Unfollow a WeChat Official Account should be associated with the official account's default campaign, because the activity is not relevant to a specific message.

You should schedule the default campaign so that it is active with an end date that is as far into the future as your new official account will be used. For more details, see Creating campaigns.

  9. Click Advanced Settings to modify additional settings:

    • Description: Enter an intuitive description when you set up the Description field for your WeChat official account because this value is concatenated with account name and displayed in various places in the Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app. If the account name is entered in Chinese, a description in English is very helpful for an extended team that may not understand Chinese. For example, the description for multiple accounts can be understood by team members selecting an account as shown in the following QR code configuration example:

This description will also be displayed when configuring the WeChat Message Sender action element on the canvas.
    • Default Timezone: Select the time zone to be displayed in your messages. The Eloqua-WeChat Integrator app allows you to insert time fields into a WeChat message. When followers receive the message, the time will be expressed in the default time zone.
    • UnionID Field: Select the Oracle Eloqua contact field used to store the UnionID. Do not set up this field mapping if your company's WeChat official accounts do not have the UnionID field enabled in the WeChat open platform.
    • Subscription Status Field: Select the Oracle Eloqua contact field used to store the contact's subscription status.
    • Last Activity Time: Select the Oracle Eloqua contact field to store the date and time of the most recent activity by the WeChat follower.
    • Access to Users: Select which Oracle Eloqua users are able to access this official account when creating templates, creating messages, and sending messages. Add multiple users by typing a name. Click the X or backspace key to remove users. The default setting is access to all users.
  10. Read the terms and conditions and then click I accept these Terms and Conditions.
  11. Click Save. Wait until the authorization completes and he Official Account Setting dialog closes. Do not close it manually.

You can return to this configuration at any time to add, modify, or remove WeChat credentials.

Warning: Deleting or modifying a WeChat credential will invalidate existing campaigns using the credential. The WeChat Message Sender element will need to be re-configured with a new credential.
