Williams Shooter Supply in Quincy set to close

A local ammunition and firearms distributor in Quincy is now set to close.

Williams Shooter Supply told its employees earlier in the week that it intends to close its doors in the next year.

Williams Shooter president Kent Williams says that the decision to close wasn't made on bankruptcy or liquidation, but that it was the correct choice for the company based off recent negative trends in the industry.

Williams says that in the last 18 months, the market has changed drastically and now six wholesalers have closed (Williams Shooter included).

The closing process will progress in the next 12 months.

The company has been in Quincy for 48 years.
