Winder Farms announces the end of home deliveries to focus on grocery stores
(KUTV) — A huge change is coming to one of Utah's oldest businesses: no more milkmen.
Winder Farms announced on Friday that starting July 5, the dairy producers will no longer make home deliveries and focus on distributing their products in grocery stores across the state.
“There have been many changes through the years and we’ve continually adapted since my great-great-great grandfather John R. Winder began selling milk,” stated part-owner and sixth generation family member Mike Winder in the official press release
He added:
Now that we are two decades into the [21st] Century, we must adapt once more.
Unlike even a few years ago, Winder Farms stated that there are a growing number of competing delivery and pickup options available from area retailers today. Winder Farms - one of the Beehive State's 10 oldest still in operation - will instead focus exclusively on making Winder Farms milk available in as many stores as possible.
“Frankly, this change is difficult for all of us. It is indeed an end of an era,” Winder stated. “Yet, on behalf of the entire Winder Farms family, we are thrilled that we will be able to continue to provide the freshest, best-tasting dairy products through your favorite grocery stores for decades to come.”
Winder Farms is an award-winning dairy producer, being named "Best in State" and awarded as the "Best Milk in the World" at the 2016 World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.
Winder Farms milk will now be available in Dan's, Dick's, Fresh Market, Harmons, Lee's Market, Macey's, Ridley's, Smith's, Sprout's, Target, The Store, Whole Foods, Winegars and more.
