File: WindowsLiveLogin.dll

Microsoft has rebranded their "Windows Live Login" service as "Microsoft account." It allows a user to establish an e-mail address and password which will work to enter any website for which this service is enabled, including Windows Phone, Microsoft OneDrive, and others. This module is the Live ID Login Helper, a Browser Helper Object which enables the user's browser to handle the interface for logging into such websites. Instead of being authenticated by the website internally, the newly-arriving user is redirected to the nearest of a network of Microsoft account authentication servers, beginning a process which results in the user's computer having a pair of encrypted time-limited cookies, one from the authentication server and one from the website. (These are removed if the user actively logs out of the Microsoft account.) As long as these two cookies are valid the website will not request a user-id or password. Users who block all planting of cookies on their computer are therefore likely to have trouble using Microsoft account. If you want a detailed security rating about your WindowsLiveLogin.dll (and all other running background processes) read the following user opinions, and download the free trial version of Security Task Manager. www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/windowslivelogin.dll.html

Note: Any malware can be named anything - so you should check where the files of the running processes are located on your disk. If a "non-Microsoft" .exe file is located in the C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32 folder, then there is a high risk for a virus, spyware, trojan or worm infection! Check it out!

From wikipedia: Microsoft account (previously Microsoft Wallet, Microsoft Passport, .NET Passport, Microsoft Passport Network, and most recently Windows Live ID) is a single sign-on web service developed and provided by Microsoft that allows users to log in to many websites using one account. The service is commonly referred to as "MSN", because many services incorporating the Microsoft account are or were previously branded with the MSN brand.  See also: Link JPD
