Assistant to the Executive Director, University Technology, January 2008 – June 2010 Developed an assessment strategy to identify the need for enhanced user support in technology in support of the university-wide technology restructuring. Researched and helped with integration of the Content Management System for university’s 20,000 page web presence, including coordination of training needs. Establishing a periodic rotational review of the 20,000-page university-wide web presence to ensure that the standards of the Illinois Internet Technology Accessibility Act were met, including coordination of training needs. Provided assessment support to all areas of the university. Major contributions include expanded involvement in the MAP-Works freshmen retention effort resulting in 95% student participation, a review of the University Emergency Alert System, assessment of the level of writing in general education courses, and evaluation of the effect of limited travel funding on faculty professional development. Developed a formative assessment strategy to provide data-based evidence for the university’s First Year Experience program, which began fall 2005. Facilitated a 6-month self-study of the satellite Quad Cities campus to provide vision and guidance for their effective functioning and expansion to the Riverfront Campus facility. Efforts resulted in agreements regarding degree offering and degree completion strategies. Tere North - 4 Conducting the National Survey of Student Engagement each year, including related Beginning College and Faculty surveys, as well as reporting results and recommending efforts to improve institutional performance on these effective educational practice measures. Coordinated an initiative with University Housing and Dining, using the Making Assessment Possible (MAP-Works) assessment program to identify and provide early proactive support to at-risk students in an effort to address declines in freshmen-to-sophomore retention. Provided assessment support to all areas of the university. Major contributions include general education assessment which resulted in support for the inclusion fine arts in the general education curriculum and a foreign language or international experience component as a graduation requirement. Developed and maintained web presence for the areas of assessment, budget, planning, and technology areas in the Office of Planning, Budget, and Institutional Research. Established and coordinated a 5-month user migration strategy, training, and support elements of the university’s transition to a single integrated networked email, calendar, and collaboration solution, including development of feedback loops to assess migration, training, and support effectiveness.
