I received the following email from TIAA-CREF, alerting me that my quarterly statement is available, and suggesting that I log in to the Quick View Page or the tiaa-cref.org homepage. Needless to say, I moused over the links to see where they go. They do not go to tiaa-cref.org. Well not directly. The links horrendously phishy, exactly the kind of link we tell people to avoid. However if you click on them, they actually redirect to publictools.tiaa-cref.org and www.tiaa-cref.org respectively.
I followed the Send Us an Email link (checking to make sure I was really at tiaa-cref.org, of course!) and sent them a long email about it, and urged them to change the links in the emails so that they go directly to tiaa-cref.org instead of these phishy looking redirects.
I'll be curious to see if I get a reply, and to see if they actually do fix in the links in future emails.
