Last week during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we had the chance to take a look at Android 5.0.2 Lollipop running on the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z4 Tablet. We wondered at the time if this meant the update was not so far away thanks to it being used it production devices, and it looks like we might not have much longer to wait at all. Xperia-Blog is reporting that the Facebook page for Sony Mobile Indonesia slipped up and released some interesting info about the rollout for Lollipop on the Xperia Z series as well as tidbits from the final changelog.

The post is no longer available on the Indonesian Facebook page, but luckily Xperia-Blog has captured the information. The Facebook post said that the update would begin to hit select Xperia phones starting Week 12 of 2015, which is basically next week. We’re taking those phones to be members of the Xperia Z series and naturally first up would be the Xperia Z3 lineup of devices, followed by the Z2 line and so on. There’s not much info besides that however, but there is an interesting little changelog listed for us, which goes something like this:

“Android 5.0 – Lollipop available for your Xperia through the Center Updates, upgrades and enjoy new features, improved performance and interesting applications.

New features available to you when you upgrade:

– intelligent user interface – Enjoy a bold new user interface, graphics and easy to understand, with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Inspired by the design of Google and the expertise of Sony, every detail is very beautiful and interactive.

– Improved screen lock – Access all your notifications at your fingertips. With a simple swipe shortcuts and intelligent notification card, you do not need to swipe away.

– Support multi-user – Create customized user profiles and guest mode on the same device. Do you want to profile you uninterrupted for work or personal profile to play, you can stay focused on what is most important.

– optimal storage – With Android 5.0 – Lollipop you do not have to sacrifice you to save storage applications.Easy to install and transfer the application to the external SD card and enjoy the flexibility and higher performance”

It’s noted that for the update to be successful you’ll need 1.2 GB of free space (which sadly rules out my Xperia Z2 at the moment) and that it could take as long as 20 minutes for the update to complete. There’s no evidence of this post on the Sony Mobile Indonesia Facebook page, so take this with a grain of salt. However, the fact that Lollipop was running on devices last week during Mobile World Congress is a strong indication that they’re pretty much done working on Android 5.0.2.
