How to register online for SBI Net Banking using ATM card
Internet banking services have made banking a highly convenient experience for customers. Also called as online banking, internet banking lets you avail of most of the banking services as well as do most of the banking transactions online without having to visit the bank’s branch physically. SBI offers state of the art online portal for its retail as well as corporate customers. To be able to use the internet banking services, you need to register for the same. Here is how SBI customers can register online for online / internet banking using an ATM card.

Usually you need to visit the SBI branch in which you have your account to register for online banking or to activate internet banking services. The online SBI portal has ruled out this hassle and made it easy to register for online banking through ATM card without visiting the bank.

Steps to register online for SBI internet banking using ATM card

  • Visit the online SBI portal for retail customers.
  • You will find two options namely Personal Banking and Corporate Banking. Click on the ‘Personal Banking’ option and select the ‘New User Registration’ option.
  • You will see the message, “If you have already obtained a pre-printed Kit from the branch for activating INB facility, please don’t proceed with this link. You can input user id and password given in PPK on the normal login screen.”
  • This means that if you have already got the internet banking registration kit, you can straightaway use the login credentials you received to login to the banking portal and start using the online banking services. The procedure given below is required only for those customers who want to freshly register for internet banking services.
  • Click on ‘OK’ to land on the next page if you wish to activate your internet banking services using an ATM card.
  • In the next page, enter the details like account number, CIF number, branch code, country, registered mobile number, and facility required.
  • You will find your account number and CIF number on your passbook or statement of account. The branch code is a 5 digit number you will find on your passbook or cheque book. If you have any confusion regarding the branch code, you can use the link ‘Get Branch Name’ option you will find on this page.
  • You need to enter the mobile number registered with the bank while opening the account.
  • Under the Facilities Required, select from the pop down menu from the options, full transaction rights or limited transaction rights or view rights. If you select the ‘view rights’ option, you can only view the account, but not do any transaction online. If you choose limited transaction rights, you can do some select transactions only. If you select full transaction rights, you can do all the transactions available on your account. Please note that you can change the options to anything in future.
  • You need to input the characters shown on the image in the next column.
  • To activate the internet banking facility through an ATM card, choose the option “I have my ATM card (Online registration without branch visit).
  • Click on Submit and you will have to enter the details of your ATM card like card number, expiry date, card holder’s name, and ATM PIN. You will be asked to type in the characters you will see in the image.
  • Click on Proceed and you will get a temporary user name for internet banking. After entering this number, you will have to input your chosen login password and enter it once again to confirm.
  • To create the password, follow the instructions given below in the same page.
  • Once you enter the password two times and click on ‘submit’, you will see the message ‘Successfully registered for internet banking’.
  • After you login for the first time using the temporary username and the password you generated, you can change the username and password as per your choice.
  • Now you can start using the internet banking facility of SBI at your convenience on any internet enabled device.
