Aetna Smart Care Health Savings Account (HSA)

If you participate in the Aetna Smart Care high deductible health plan (HDHP) and elect a Health Care Savings Account (HSA), the university will make an annual deposit of $850, $1275, or $1700 into your HSA account--depending on your coverage election to help you pay for future medical costs.

Your HSA dollars earn interest and travel with you into retirement or when you change jobs or health plans.

Open your HSA to receive deposits

You must enroll in an HSA account to receive the University’s contributions, even if you do not plan on making a pre-tax payroll contribution to your HSA account.

Additional Benefits

  • Get added protection at no extra cost with Aetna Accident Insurance, which is a separate policy that provides you and your covered dependents with additional coverage to offset unexpected medical expenses due to unforeseen events.
  • Conveniently pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses with a Inspira/PayFlex Account debit card
  • Unused funds do not expire and roll over from year to year. There are no income limits.

If you are currently enrolled in a Health Savings Account (HSA), your current elections will roll over into the following plan year. HSA contributions can be changed at any time in Workday.
