I wish there was a way to give a negative star after the service I received from this institution. Firstly, I refinanced a loan with a much better institution at 2% less interest. The bank that refinanced my loan requested a payoff multiple times. They were told I would have to be on the line to authorize this. Really, come on. So we make the call. The person who answered was Brandon. He asked for my name, date of birth, social security number, and driver's license. He then said I would need to come in to prove I am male! The audacity of that statement. I asked, 'Exactly how would you like me to prove this?'
He then states that Desert Financial takes security very seriously and that I am misunderstanding the situation. He adds that my voice does not match what he expects of a male voice. Firstly, that is something you should never say. The representative from my new bank tells Brandon that he is speaking to Mr. D and admonishes him for addressing me incorrectly. We then asked for a manager. Said manager left us on hold for 26 minutes. He introduces himself as Julian and supports Brandon's behavior. After 45 minutes of feeling insulted, we finally obtained the payoff information.
I will be closing my accounts with Desert Financial by the 23rd and will never do business with them again due to their bigotry. It is unacceptable for any business to behave in this manner. I was made to feel inferior. My tone of voice is due to a very traumatic incident from my early youth that caused multiple surgeries and scars. Brandon and Julian, you need to do better.

I had been with them for five years when someone attempted to break into my account. They kicked me out and sent me a bad cashier's check. These security policies are turning good people bad, like a guard dog turning on you or a bank issuing a bad check.

Customer service is awful. If you have a problem, you're on your own and will not receive a coherent response. It's like talking to a chatbot.

ZERO! Terrible credit union. 1) They lost my social security deposit and told me to call Social Security to have another check issued. I wasn't having any of that. 2) Twice now, I've been locked out of my online access. It's a holiday today. They are closed. I'm not able to access my information because apparently they have incorrectly input my security information. BAD BAD BAD! They are more trouble than they're worth.

After 38 years of banking here, I have to say this should be your last choice for banking. They've canceled my debit card by "accident", taken a month to process a simple car loan due to a lack of communication among employees, failed to provide me with money I ordered because they locked the vault for too long, and given the money I requested to someone else. The good news is I've received a crisp "I'm sorry" every time they make a mistake.

I stopped in to place a bank deposit, get change, and handed $60 to the clerk, asking for change. She didn't count the money and placed it in her machine. She then proceeded to say that I gave her only $50. I said no, I gave you $60. She then says she can only give me $50 in change. So I asked her why she didn't count the money before entering it into the machine. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I requested that the manager check the camera to review that I gave her $60. I left with $50 and felt extremely upset. I requested that the manager call me in the morning to find out what they saw. The next day, I received no phone call and saw the $10 deposited into my business account. What unprofessional behavior, and it really made me feel like they were accusing me of dishonesty. What would it take for someone to call and apologize?

My father recently passed away and had a few accounts with Desert Financial. To keep his home and auto loans from going into default, I attempted to make payments. However, a manager named Teresa refused to share how much was owed or what was necessary to keep them out of default. She then accused me of stealing his mail and became grossly condescending, stonewalling every question I asked. When I asked her to stop, she switched to being contrarian and continued to bull-doze me every time I spoke. I told her my father had just died and I would greatly appreciate her being considerate of this fact, but she just laughed at me. This is the most unprofessional bank I have ever dealt with.

Zero Stars. The worst bank ever. Shame on you. I opened an account and tried to fund it by adding/linking an external US bank account. They flagged me for fraud. I couldn't even log in to see my account. I called them multiple times and sent them my driving license and other verification. Last week they asked me to send a bank statement of the bank account I was trying to connect to my Desert Financial account. I sent them recent bank statements via email, but still nothing, and I could still not access my account.
I called again today, and after a long wait, I got through to a person who transferred me to another department. The person I talked to was Liz (she refused to give me her full name or agent ID). She was extremely rude, insulting, and was literally yelling at me, telling me, "I have decided to close your account." I asked for the reason, and she gave me a vague answer and abruptly ended the call by saying the money in the account will be sent to my address on file.
I have never experienced this kind of insult and treatment before. I have bank accounts with of institutes, and people respect me when I call for banking. This credit union is unbelievably unprofessional and mistreats people. Stay away from them. Maybe they have too much business and have no need for additional clients.
Shame on you, Liz, for insulting and yelling at me, and shame on Desert Financial Credit Union for hiring people like Liz.

Our small local contracting business has been with Desert Financial Credit Union since we started, over 16 years ago. Desert Financial has been a steady partner, offering us the services a small business needs to survive and thrive. Beyond that, all banks offer somewhat similar services, Desert Financial and their fine staff have been a part of our business family, allowing us to build personal relationships with our branch office bankers that just never happens with one of the megabanks. That is what we treasure the most: the warm personal touch.

Won't release checks in a timely manner, making it impossible to run a business. We frequently receive checks for $10,000+ from large companies we provide services to, and Desert Schools will only release $5,000 with approval. Will be leaving as soon as possible.

I moved to Mesa in mid-February and opened an account at DF on Alma School Road. I was planning to buy a house and needed to be able to transfer funds from Valley Strong Credit Union in California, so I could wire funds at the close of escrow. The funds have been transferred, but the branch manager refuses to release them in time to close escrow. His phone is either busy or rings with no response. He refuses to return calls from Valley Strong Credit Union. He refuses to call Valley Strong Credit Union. His voicemail is full, so he's not managing that either. He's completely unprofessional. Escrow closes on March 27. I need to wire funds on the 26.

Worst bank I have ever experienced in my 50 years of life, a disastrous choice by me. I didn't even last 6 months with the account. I do not recommend this disrespectful bank to anyone. For the first time in my life, I have now abandoned all walk-in banks for future account use. Never again. Online banking with smaller banks is the only way to go now.

I have been a member for over 15 years, but after today, I am closing my account. Customer service has diminished at this credit union, and I feel like I'm just a number, not a member. They couldn't care less if I remain a member, so I am going to close my checking and savings accounts in the morning.

I submitted an online application with Desert Financial for a car loan, the loan was for $40,000. I received a call from someone name Kelly and she said that they couldn’t run my credit because I had a freeze on my credit report. I called to Transunion to unfreeze my credit report and they still couldn’t run it for some reason. After calling Transunion I called the bank to let them know they could run my credit report was already unfreeze. I call the bank again to follow up on my application and talk to someone one because “Kelly” was off that day. This person said that my Debt to ratio was high and they are going to denied my loan. I said well what about if I change my loan amount to $25,000 and she said ok I will change the amount and send it to the underwriter for process to call back again. Also this person said “since I have you in the phone, do you want to apply for a credit card”?????? ….. REALLYYYYY you are saying that my Debt to income is high and you are offering me a credit card? Here I knew that they are not here to help you. I received a call from Kelly saying that that loan amount was also denied, but she said that if I go to a dealership and IF THEY EVEN FIND SOMEONE TO FINANCE ME I can always come back in couple of years to see if they will even refinance me, of course when you have better credit. I have great credit (725), never late of my payments, making 6 figures and they denied a $25,000 loan!!!! I been with this back for over 2 years I guess is time to find another credit union that will be happy to take my business. DON’T BANK HERE!!!

I have been a member of Desert Financial since 1974. I gave them a courtesy one star, just because I cannot give them zero stars. Over the years, there have been numerous examples of really bad Customer service. Here is just one… They refused to deposit a check into my account that was under $10 from APS Written to my son. My son signed it over to me, but the manager said that the check might not clear from APS, which is totally untrue. At the time I had over $100,000 in my account. I could write a long time about numerous other bad experiences. The only reason I keep my account with him is that I have been with him for so long.
