I moved to Mesa in mid-February and opened an account at DF on Alma School Road. I was planning to buy a house and needed to be able to transfer funds from Valley Strong Credit Union in California, so I could wire funds at the close of escrow. The funds have been transferred, but the branch manager refuses to release them in time to close escrow. His phone is either busy or rings with no response. He refuses to return calls from Valley Strong Credit Union. He refuses to call Valley Strong Credit Union. His voicemail is full, so he's not managing that either. He's completely unprofessional. Escrow closes on March 27. I need to wire funds on the 26.
Worst bank I have ever experienced in my 50 years of life, a disastrous choice by me. I didn't even last 6 months with the account. I do not recommend this disrespectful bank to anyone. For the first time in my life, I have now abandoned all walk-in banks for future account use. Never again. Online banking with smaller banks is the only way to go now.
I have been a member for over 15 years, but after today, I am closing my account. Customer service has diminished at this credit union, and I feel like I'm just a number, not a member. They couldn't care less if I remain a member, so I am going to close my checking and savings accounts in the morning.
I submitted an online application with Desert Financial for a car loan, the loan was for $40,000. I received a call from someone name Kelly and she said that they couldn’t run my credit because I had a freeze on my credit report. I called to Transunion to unfreeze my credit report and they still couldn’t run it for some reason. After calling Transunion I called the bank to let them know they could run my credit report was already unfreeze. I call the bank again to follow up on my application and talk to someone one because “Kelly” was off that day. This person said that my Debt to ratio was high and they are going to denied my loan. I said well what about if I change my loan amount to $25,000 and she said ok I will change the amount and send it to the underwriter for process to call back again. Also this person said “since I have you in the phone, do you want to apply for a credit card”?????? ….. REALLYYYYY you are saying that my Debt to income is high and you are offering me a credit card? Here I knew that they are not here to help you. I received a call from Kelly saying that that loan amount was also denied, but she said that if I go to a dealership and IF THEY EVEN FIND SOMEONE TO FINANCE ME I can always come back in couple of years to see if they will even refinance me, of course when you have better credit. I have great credit (725), never late of my payments, making 6 figures and they denied a $25,000 loan!!!! I been with this back for over 2 years I guess is time to find another credit union that will be happy to take my business. DON’T BANK HERE!!!
I have been a member of Desert Financial since 1974. I gave them a courtesy one star, just because I cannot give them zero stars. Over the years, there have been numerous examples of really bad Customer service. Here is just one… They refused to deposit a check into my account that was under $10 from APS Written to my son. My son signed it over to me, but the manager said that the check might not clear from APS, which is totally untrue. At the time I had over $100,000 in my account. I could write a long time about numerous other bad experiences. The only reason I keep my account with him is that I have been with him for so long.

Desert Schools Financial is number 1 in my book!! They are exceptional in every transaction and service, what ever reason I require they're services! Truly what all financial institutions should follow! We've been with them for 8 years or so and could not be happier! Jay
Very competent staff... easy to connect with...no problems setting up paperless banking...look forward to a long and pleasant auto loan relationship...
They will charge NSF fees for PENDING transactions even though your account is positive and they won't refund those fees. If you send a message in their message center, they never look at them. Don't go to this bank if you live paycheck to paycheck. You'll never get ahead with them
We took our trust documentation in to the branch to have our checking and savings accounts put into our Trust ... but they dropped the ball and apparently didn't complete the process. Tried to make a substantial deposit more than a month later, but couldn't do it because the name wasn't correct. Was told by a "relationship specialist" (ha!) that she would check into it and call me on the next business day. She never called, and never returned my phone calls to her over the next 10 days. Finally reached someone else, who informed me that it was now (finally) in the name of our trust. No acknowledgement or apology for this mishandling and inconvenience. Very disappointed so far, although hoping they'll do additional customer service training for their staff so relationships can become more professional, courteous, and efficient.
I have been a bank member for 6 years and they mistakenly charged 2 NSF fees because their app was not working correctly. They stole $70 and after talking to them on the phone they still wouldnt return the money. They do not honor customer service. I would definitely go to another bank where they value their customers.
