The worst bank ever. I opened an account, and within two months, my account was closed. No one can tell me the reason. They just decided to close my account and mess up my whole week because I provided that account to many parties from which I was expecting transactions. The worst bank is Huntington Bank Columbus, Ohio.
Worst bank ever. Made an ATM cash deposit on a Sunday. On Tuesday, tried withdrawing funds and the bank wouldn't allow it since they closed my account due to a scam alert. Showed them the cash receipt, and the local branch couldn't help. Contacted the main office and was told they would send a refund by mail, and it would take two weeks to receive it after I had already waited a week for the refund. Don't do business at all with these people.
Huntington Bank's 800 number offers the worst possible service. I found them to be very rude and not helpful. I felt they weren't listening to me. Both the customer service representative and the manager kept telling me I had to go into the branch location, which I had already done. It wasn't a branch issue; it was definitely very poor customer service assistance.
Stay away from this bank, a bunch of crooks! I opened a money market account last month, which was supposed to have a 4.5% interest rate; instead, I got 0.04% on the statement: $0.07 interest on $29K. On top of it, the worst customer service, with unqualified people. I visited the Chicago branches and would like to give 0 stars.
Our experience buying a home for the first time was awesome with Huntington Bank and the people who were involved in it with us! Thank you kindly to you all.
Was with TCF for a couple of decades - very happy. Then Huntington bought TCF, and that's when the problems started. Nice little touches like closing numerous branches yet still listing them as "open" on their website and app - only to get there and find the branches boarded up. The few remaining branches are understaffed - one or two tellers if you are lucky. Honestly, retail banking is a competitive business, and I will be switching to a more customer-friendly bank.
Went into the 49221 main branch yesterday to get a pre-approval letter for an auto loan. I've been with this bank since 1997, through all their name changes, etc. I'm trying to get my FICO score back above 750, where it was pre-COVID, and I have no debt. I have three credit cards that I pay in full every month, twice. This woman suggested I borrow against my money market or my home. Why would I borrow against something that I paid cash for and then pay you interest? I own two additional properties and two vehicles, free and clear. She didn't seem concerned about my needs and said she would call me back yesterday afternoon or today, but she never did. I'm considering moving all my accounts to Old National Bank. If you want to get a higher credit score, apparently you shouldn't pay cash for everything like I did. I also think that my cellphone bill and other utilities should count towards my score as well, but I guess I'm just a participant in this complicated system. Amen!???

If you can avoid any bank, please avoid Huntington. They are the absolute worst bank ever. They don't care about customers, never have direct answers, and I could go on and on.
Had an account for 10+ years only to find it cancelled and a check being mailed to me at some point. The only reason given was someone "anonymously called and reported" that I'm using it illegally. No details on who or what were provided. I wasn't using it illegally. I barely use the account, and it's mostly for sending myself funds to pay bills like rent, gas, and electric. I rarely used it for anything else.
A great place to bank if you enjoy spending your Sunday afternoons listening to hold music, with customer service representatives telling you they'll unsuspend your debit card and then failing to follow through. It's a great place to bank if you enjoy being stranded on the opposite side of the city without gas money because your bank won't allow you to access your funds.
Every time I called with an issue, I would get inconsistent information and never received consistent responses. I submitted two disputes, and they closed my account without any notification or reason why. Since it was near the end of the month, it left me in a difficult situation, trying to move my direct deposits to a new bank in time. My direct deposits were sent to a closed account, and now I'm waiting for them to be returned and resubmitted to my new account. This is going to take several weeks and is making me late on all my bills. This is completely unacceptable and unnecessary. They could have given me a reason for closing my account and a chance to provide any information to justify their cause for closing it. At a minimum, they could have left my account open to give me time to switch my direct deposits without causing me this distress.
I had opted in for their overdraft options where they pay your transactions if you overdraw, plus they're supposed to have a $50 safety zone so that if you overdraw your account, they won't return a transaction as long as it's under that $50. I was placed in their 24-hour grace period after opting into all their overdraft protection because my account went negative by $30. I contacted customer support and had to talk to a gentleman with a heavy accent, which is all you get when you call their customer service. I asked why I was placed in a grace period if they had all these protections in place and he then explained the reason for the grace period. I inquired again why I was placed in this 24-hour grace period, at which point he informed me that I had a deposit in my account, so I should be fine. I was aware of the $30 transfer because I had to pay $4 to transfer it into the account so they wouldn't return the transaction that made my account $30 short. I then told him that I didn't need him to explain things to me that I could actually see in my app; I needed him to tell me why I was placed in the 24-hour grace period to begin with. The man could not answer this extremely simple question. I still do not know why they have put me in a 24-hour grace even though I've opted into all their protections, so I will now be closing the account and going to a real bank where I can actually speak to people in my country, where their ATMs don't break down every few seconds, and where they don't change policies whenever they feel like it.
Charged an emergency trip on this card - it was less than half of my credit limit. Huntington then lowered my limit to just over what was charged, impacting my credit score in the process. I have had a bank account with them for years before getting their credit card, and I pay early every single time - never been late, never missed a payment. In fact, my payment history on all of my credit cards is excellent (and I have many on which I do not carry balances), and they still did this... Do not recommend at all! This is why I am leaving Huntington and moving to credit unions - I've never had a credit union do this to me.
Do not waste time! I have a 708 credit score. They rejected me saying they need 720 or above. Then state your requirements upfront on your website instead of wasting my time and pulling a hard credit inquiry, bringing my score down.
The 24-hour grace period is deceptive! They advertise that you can overdraw your account by $50 with a $15 fee if you don't reduce the negative balance below $50, for example to -$49. However, what they don't mention is that they will charge you a $15 fee for each transaction that exceeds the limit. I had only one item that went over the $50 limit, which resulted in a balance of -$52. After banking with them for eight years, I'm considering switching banks because of this issue. A $30 fee (2 x $15) for exceeding their 'grace' limit by $2 is unreasonable, and they won't waive the fee, not even one of them, although I don't believe I should have two fees. I even reduced the balance to -$37 just a few hours after the '24-hour grace' period ended, and they still refuse to take any action. There was a time when I had $15,000 in this bank. I'm finished with them!
