Home - Coffee County School District

The Coffee County School System is composed of eight elementary schools (pre-K through grade 5), one middle school (grades six through eight), a ninth-grade academy, one comprehensive high school (grades ten through twelve), one separate college and career academy (grades nine through twelve) and one alternative program (grades six through twelve). The school system is governed by a five-member board of education elected for a four-year term on a non-partisan basis. The school superintendent is appointed by the board and serves as the chief executive officer. The system serves approximately 7,600 students in Pre-K through 12th grade.

Notice to Private & Homeschool Representatives

Coffee County Schools has a duty under federal legislation entitled the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) to seek out and evaluate students suspected of having educational disabilities and provide appropriate service. Under IDEA 2004, the Coffee County School System is required to consult with representatives of private schools and with parents about the provision of special education and related services for parentally-placed private school children attending private schools within the school system’s jurisdiction. Homeschool students also fall within this category. A consultation meeting will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Coffee County Board of Education-Ashley Slater House Building, 211 South Gaskin Avenue, Douglas, GA 31533.

Notice of Public Hearing - Coffee County Board of Education

All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing during which the Budget for the Fiscal Year 2026 will be presented. The hearing will be held at the regular Work Session of the Coffee County Board of Education located at 211 Gaskin Avenue S., Douglas, GA 31533, on May 8, 2025 at 5:30 pm. This will be the second of two public hearings to present the 2025-2026 Fiscal Budget.
