New England Tech adds cybersecurity, nursing master’s degree programs

EAST GREENWICH – The New England Institute of Technology has announced it will start offering two new master’s degree programs in October, one in nursing and the other in cybersecurity.

The Master of Science nursing degree is designed for registered nurses who are working, the school said. The program is part time and is an online hybrid course that allows students to choose between two specialty tracks: educational leadership and family nurse practitioner.

The educational leadership track prepares registered nurses to teach in an academic or clinical-practice setting. Featuring mostly online coursework, this track focuses on educational foundations, instructional methods, curriculum development and educational leadership.

Applicants must have an unencumbered U.S. license as a registered nurse, be a graduate of an accredited baccalaureate degree program with a 3.0 overall GPA and have at least one year of clinical experience as an RN within the past two years.

The cybersecurity master’s degree program is open to those with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or have extensive professional experience in information technology.

The program is a Master of Science in cybersecurity defense and is intended to prepare IT professionals to be leaders in cybersecurity, to identify and assess vulnerabilities, develop plans to address those vulnerabilities and to implement and monitor those plans. .

The curriculum is based on the Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Project Management Professional certifications. The program blends technical knowledge and essential cybersecurity skills with business management and enterprise leadership principles. This degree can be completed entirely online or as a hybrid program.
