AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Driver Safety Programs are innovative classroom driver retraining programs for persons 50 and older designed to help improve driving skills.
Did you know Minnesota state law requires insurance providers to offer a 3 year, 10% auto insurance discount to licensed drivers age 55 and older upon completion of an approved defensive driving course? Included in the class fee are the AARP materials and a facility/host fee.
A four-hour renewal course is required every three years after completing the original eight hour First Time course. Those eligible and completing this renewal course will receive a “completion certificate” which they may submit to their insurance company. The First Time eight-hour course is required before taking this four-hour renewal course. Bring your driver’s license to class and AARP membership card (if you are a member.) Pre-registration is required.
