KCMO City Hall, other city facilities will have ‘soft reopening’ Monday
Kansas City Interim City Manager Earnest Rouse announced a soft reopening of some city of Kansas City facilities, including City Hall, starting Monday. The gradual reopening includes limited public access to some buildings, with restrictions, and following the 10/10/10 guidelines.
The city asks the public who enter city buildings are expected to wear masks, and a mask will be provided if you do not have one. The city said employees must wear masks when not at their private/individual workspaces.
“To make this gradual reopening safer, we have installed plexiglass barriers at some customer service counters and will expand the use of visitor logs,” Rouse said. “Signs on elevators indicate where to stand inside the elevator, and the limit on passengers, in order to maintain social distancing.”
Starting Monday, the public will be able to access some city services in person:
• Limited public access for permits and plans at City Hall (5th and 15th floors)
• KC Water’s Household Hazardous facility reopened at 9 a.m. Friday, with restrictions in place to protect customers and employees.
• KC Water’s customer lobby at 4800 E. 63rd St. will reopen to the public by appointment only starting Monday. Call 816-513-1313 and select option 1 to make an appointment.
• KCPD resumes normal parking enforcement, starting today.
• Kansas City Zoo will reopen to the public May 16, but with some changes.
The city will continue to offer most city services online or on the phone, including:
• Pay water bills and parking fines
• Compass KC for permits and more
• Contact the 311 Center for service requests and information
• Municipal Court virtual hearings
• Participate in creating the new comprehensive plan “KC Spirit Playbook”
