KCMO City Hall, other city facilities will have ‘soft reopening’ Monday
PAST IN SHORT ORDER JOHNNY ROWLANDS NEWSCHOPPER 9 BACK TO YOU IN THE STUDIO JOHNNY. THANK YOU. WELL TODAY, KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI BEGINS TO REOPEN BUSINESSES AFTER THE STATE HOME ORDER EXPIRED KING-SIZE BED. EVANS IS LIVE THIS MORNING NOT WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT TODAY. ROB THAT STAYED HOME ORDER EXPIRING OVERNIGHT 1201 THIS MORNING. SO NOW ALL NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI ARE ABLE TO OPEN BACK UP UNDER SOME PRETTY STRINGENT GUIDELINES FROM THE CITY OF KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SOME OF THOSE NON-ESSENTIAL RETAIL BUSINESSES THE HAIR SALONS NAIL SALONS THINGS LIKE THAT. THEY WERE ABLE TO REOPEN THEIR DOORS LAST WEEK DURING THIS SHOP REOPENING NOW GYMS AND FITNESS CENTERS CAN JOIN THEM ALONG WITH BARS AND RESTAURANTS AS WELL. MOST BUSINESSES WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW THE CITY’S 10-10-10 RULE A RULE THAT WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. HERE’S A QUICK REMINDER ABOUT THAT RULE THAT LIMITS THE OCCUPANCY OF A BUILDING MEANS JUST 10 PEOPLE OR 10% OF A BUILDING OCCUPANCY CAN BE IN A SPACE AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHICHEVER ONE IS BIGGER THE THIRD 10 OF THIS PLAN HAS BEEN RELAXED A BIT. THERE’S NO LONGER THAT REQUIREMENT TO TAKE NAMES AND CONTACT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE INSIDE A PLACE FOR LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES, BUT THAT IS STILL STRONGLY ENCOURAGED RESTAURANTS WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT SET OF RULES TODAY LIKE TABLES THAT MUST BE 10 FEET APART. THEY MUST ALLOW FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING WHEREVER POSSIBLE AND THE BAR SEATING MUST BE KANSAS CITY MAYOR. QUINTON LUCAS SAYS HE UNDERSTANDS WHY PEOPLE MIGHT BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE CITY’S REOPENING BECAUSE HE’S WORRIED ABOUT IT, TOO. I AM AS CONCERNED AS ANYBODY NONE OF THE DECISIONS. WE MAKE ARE EASY ONES AND I SAID THE OTHER DAY DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE. MY PREFERENCE WOULD PERSONALLY BE TO STAY CLOSED, BUT I HAVE A CITY A LOT OF DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS ABOUT DIFFERENT THOUGHTS. THE ADVICE FROM THE CITY’S HEALTH DEPARTMENT REMAINS THE SAME TO STAY AT HOME WHENEVER POSSIBLE AND ALSO TRY TO LIMIT YOUR CONTACT WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND ANYTIME YOU DO GO TO ONE OF THESE BUSINESSES THAT IS REOPENING TODAY. MAKE SURE THAT YOU FOLLOW THOSE SOCIAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLS AND WEAR A MASK LIVE IN DOWNT
