This job is so rewarding! It’s more than just physical therapy. One patient who had previously been very active acquired a bacterial infection, and his muscles had atrophied, making him weak. He was in an assisted living facility and needed a machine called a Hoyer lift to get him in and out of bed. He said, ‘Everyone’s giving up on me.’ I told him, ‘We won’t give up on you.’ We got him up and walking and worked with him to strengthen his muscles and get back a lot of his functionality. I really enjoy it!

There are two things everyone remembers being part of – birth and death. When you work in Hospice care, the families will always remember the rock that you may have been and that you took on some of that burden for them. Hospice is my calling. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s an honor to be involved with these patients and families who open their homes to us to allow us to provide that care.

Healthcare At Home is a great company with people who are truly dedicated to patients. Leadership is really supportive, and we have many resources we can provide to our patients. We’re growing and building our team, and we’re quickly becoming the best agency there is!

It’s a blessing to be able to be present at the end of life. It’s rewarding to be able to guide patients through their final journey. I have worked at another hospice organization, and Healthcare At Home is definitely a step above the rest. The support from staff, supervisors, and Medical Directors is great. The education is top notch, too. They always want to give us more, so we can be the best there is. I tell people I can’t believe how much time I wasted before coming to work here!
