After researching some project contractor options I looked into what Angie had to offer. I never actually registered with the site or asked for quotes or follow *** as I was not interested in the listings provided; however needed to provide my cell # just to view the listings. I have now been plagued by 2-3 months of incessant harassment via spam texts/calls- all started about 30 seconds after I gave my phone # to Angie. I had the project completed by a local contractor that my neighbor used and now still no way to stop the spam texts and calls or mark my need as complete. It was so bad I signed up for the government do not call list but that only partially helped. 2-3 months later and more than 50% of the texts and calls I now receive are still Angie related spam. I would recommend anyone even browsing for home project help never even look at Angie because they will never stop calling or bothering you and will sell any info you provide to the widest reaches of the web. They are more a personal info seller than a home project helper!

I am filing a complaint against Angi (formerly HomeAdvisor) for unfair business practices, false service delivery, and refusal to honor cancellation requests. On July 2, 2025, I submitted a written cancellation request due to two key service failures:My Angi Leads account was paused without my consent, resulting in no lead delivery during part of the billing cycle.I received only 18 leads, far below the 2135 promised in the contract.Despite several follow-ups, Angi refused to acknowledge my cancellation in writing. They continued billing me and have now issued a final notice threatening collections, while falsely claiming they made numerous attempts to contact mewhich I have verified is not true.I have initiated a formal billing dispute with my bank, but Angi continues to threaten collections instead of resolving the matter. This is a misrepresentation of the situation, unfair to small businesses like mine.I am requesting:Written confirmation of account cancellation.A waiver of any fees based on service interruption and underperformance. An end to all collection efforts while the dispute is under formal review.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 08/11/2025

On 08/06/25, I received a call from an Angi manager regarding my dispute. During the call, the manager admitted that Angi uses sales tactics that promise more than can be delivered and said he did not believe the company would waive my termination fee. He also stated my account would likely be sent to collections despite my ongoing dispute and multiple written cancellation requests.
The manager then transferred me to an agent who was supposed to help cancel my account. Upon reviewing my account, the agent said, I dont even know what to say, and promised to investigate and call me back the next day. That call never happened.
This further demonstrates Angis deceptive practices, lack of resolution, and coercive approach to debt collection while a valid dispute is under review.

Description of the problem I called about using Angies list for advertisement, talked to a representative named *********** I believe. Told them that if I did not like using Angie's list, would I be able to cancel the contract in one month without any prior fees. And he said yes, also asked him if I would have any advertisements for selling products calling, he said no, it's not that type of service. He said no that advertisements would not be calli. And I signed an online contract I believe May 23rd 2024 Come to find out everything he said was a lie, there was a lot of advertisements calling, and I try to discontinue using it a month later and there was additional costs. On top of it the way they run their business with a scam. Half of the people I got in touch with had no idea anybody was going to get in touch with them. They suppose of customers were just curious and to how ********************** list works, and after they filled out all their information they found out that someone would call them immediately which they actually werent ready for. They were just calling for information *** least that's what half the phone call said. On top of it there was jobs that were further away than they were supposed to be as setup and listed in the contract. The whole thing was nearly frivolous and mostly a scam. Very few people would even try to call back or message back, and the ones that did were only looking for information. The problem I have is Angies list is now trying to have a collection agency come after me, after they defrauded me and scammed me with lies and misrepresentations .Hoping someone from the BBB can solve this problem! Thank you, Melrose **** with, **************** cleaning services. Thank you

Angi leads called me and I was speaking to the sales person. The lady signed me up for a contract instead of per leads. The lady also mentioned that she was giving me 72 hours and placing my card on hold. The next day I called and said yall messed up my account can yall fix this. They said they put it under review and said it will be 24 hours till I hear back. So I waited, it has been a whole week and they arent working with me at all this business does not care for their clients! Also they did not give me 72 hours and charged my card $280. Now they just sent me an email saying they are sending $320 to the credit, so there are putting more money which is against policy! Also, I have told my bank what happened and they are examining this whole thing! I need your help to get these scammers out of here!
