Long lines and unprecedented demand for services have led Nevada's Department of Motor Vehicles to extend hours during the weekdays.

According to state officials, the four offices across the Las Vegas valley along with the Reno branch in Washoe County will now be open from 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Additionally, all offices will be closed to the public on Saturday but driving skills tests, which are by appointment only, will still be offered.

Customers will be able to book new appointment slots by the end of the week, officials said

“We’re glad to be able to offer more appointments while staying safe,” said DMV Director Julie Butler. “But I can’t stress enough that customers should visit our website first and use our online services or kiosks if at all possible.”

Individuals needing to book an appointment should do so online at DMVNV.com if possible, and those who need to cancel their appointment should cancel to allow others to book the time slots.

Last month, the agency announced it will allow driver license and identification cards to be renewed online beginning this fall and remains on track to help process 75,000 Nevadans by the end of the year.

Currently, DMV offices offer limited in-person services without an appointment including movement permits, license plate surrenders, drop-off transactions for registration and document review.
