I wanted to open a new googlemail, or yahoo, email account.

They both want mobile numbers from me to verify.

I don't have 2 mobile phones !! and when I opened my current ones they didn't ask for this.

Is there any way round this problem, or can someone please tell me a decent alternative that doesn't require a mobile number.

Should add, I tried the incognito version of google, but it still asked for a mobile number.

I'm not sure I understand why you need 2 phones. You can use the one phone number for both accounts. I can't verify if the method in the below link works.

Searching for how to open Gmail account without using a phone number....I saw this:

I've found another solution after going back to sign up for an account by going to: YouTube sign in > Sign up > Enter information with create new Gmail, and now the phone number verification is optional. I'm not sure why it would ask it when creating a new account elsewhere, but I'm glad I was able to create a new Google account this time. "  May or may not work for you.

So, I tested that going first to YouTube without being signed in to Google....below is what I saw after entering
a new email address on one page and then moving to the next. As you can see phone number is optional and you
can enter an email account for verification.

I deleted the top part of that image as it contained a name that I use often online.

Now I will go back and complete the form for a new Gmail account....or not.

ne5,

Does the new email account or accounts NEED TO BE either Google or Yahoo?  Last I checked, www.mail.com did not require any mobile phone number to register for an email account.

A lot of email services are requiring phone verification to battle spam accounts. There are workarounds but sometimes they still prompt you for verification later (e.g., Twitter will allow you to create an account without a phone number, but after around 10-15 minutes it will limit your account and you can't proceed until you verify by phone).

One alternative that doesn't require verification is ProtonMail.

sorry if it wasn't clear. It was a 2nd twitter account I wanted, so after starting this thread I made a new mail with mail.com. Then twitter accepted the new email address then said they also want another mobile number for a 2nd twitter account.

So I'm still stuck.

There's no workaround for making a Twitter account without a phone number. Twitter also limits the number of times you can use a specific phone number to verify an account.

Signing up for a Google Voice number and using that as verification used to be an option, but I don't think that method works anymore.

If really the new account is what you want and you MUST give a phone number, then a way to settle for one is to buy a low priced basic cell phone on a cheap alternative carrier prepaid plan.  Maybe through Tracfone or some other "virtual network operator".   When you buy and activate the plan, simply ask for a new cell phone number.

You can also use a landline phone at your house, rather than a mobile phone to verify is your account.

That is how I did it, because I don't have a mobile phone.
