Typo in email address when creating Apple ID. No automatic log-in, not sure which typo was made. Any way to access this new account?

When creating an Apple ID on my new iPhone tonight, I must have misspelled my email address. Not only am I unable to log in with my actual email, I get a "No Apple ID Found" error message from iforgot.apple.com when using that address. (The "Forgot Your Apple ID?" page is a catch-22: to recover my ID I have to provide an email address associated with my account, but if I knew the email address I would know the ID. Unfortunately I did not provide a secondary email.)

I have scheduled an Apple Support call for tomorrow. In the meantime, is there any way to recover an Apple ID without providing the email address? (Phone number, security questions, etc.)

I am eager to do so because my credit card is now associated with this orphaned account. It is unlikely that my typo led to an actual, registered email address, so there is probably no danger of anyone charging iTunes or App Store purchases to my card. However, as all you need to do to reset an Apple password is have an email sent to your address—no security questions asked—I am a bit anxious about it all the same.

I have tried a couple likely typos already.

This question was sent from an old account.

Thank you.

iPhone SE, null

If the verification fails, no Apple ID gets created.

With a typo, one would assume either the verification email went nowhere, or went to a stranger.

I am not sure how the stranger could have entered the verification code in the Apple ID creation dialog you were in the middle of. Even if they instantly understood what was going on, how could they make use of that knowledge?

I am suggesting the Apple ID was not created. I say this because if you don't come "back" to the dialog and enter the 6 digit verification code from the email, proving you control the email address you want to make into an Apple ID, the process ends/fails etc.

Here is what you see as you wait for the email...

And here is the email, showing that if this fails, no Apple ID is created.

And if you got to the point of adding a method of payment, you got the email and the Apple ID is valid.

You should have needed to verify any email address you supplied when setting up your Apple ID.

With a typo, the email would not have arrived for you to verify, so the Apple ID would not have been created.

Did you get back an email confirming the Apple ID was actually created?

I did not. This is one of the reasons I am sure I signed up with a typo in the email address. Whether the account was successfully created or not I have no means of discovering—which is part of the problem.

On the off-chance that someone owns and uses the email address I accidentally signed up with, there is nothing I know of that would prevent them activating the account, resetting the password, and making purchases using the card associated with the account. That is why I am concerned.

It looks like this image comes up when creating an Apple ID on the desktop in the middle of sign-up, before entering payment information. However, I was using my iPhone—under Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Create New Apple ID—and this step was skipped. On page one, you enter your email address, name, password, and security questions and answers. Then, on page two—without email verification—you enter in a credit or gift card to be associated with the account. I completed both pages and received no further feedback from Apple.
