Stained Wood Wedding Guest Book

  It’ll either come painted and stained or unpainted so you can get your wedding DIY on.

  Wedding Guest Book Materials

  For this really easy DIY project, all you need is a Round Wooden Guest Book, stain, a foam brush, an old rag and glue.

• 

  Stain the Wedding Guest Book

  Choose whatever color stain you’d like for your guest book. I went with a dark walnut color that would be dark enough that a gold Sharpie would show up.

  You can also paint the backer any color, but I love staining the Baltic Birch to see the wood grain.

  If DIY isn’t your thing, you can order the wedding guest book already painted or stained and assembled!

  Apply Multiple Coats to the Wedding Guest Book

  I applied a few coats to get the stain dark enough.

  Side note: if you do mess up and go too dark, or end up not liking the stain color you chose, you can always sand it down and start over!

  Leave Names Unpainted

  For this DIY project, I left the names unpainted because I really love the look of unpainted Baltic Birch and it gives a really nice contrast against the dark stain.

  Glue the Names on the Wedding Guest Book

  Use Elmer’s Glue or another type of wood glue to affix the names to the wood backer.

• 

  Names Glued on the Wedding Guest Book

  Let the glue dry and then apply a clear coat over the entire wedding guest book.

  I used Rust-Oleum Crystal Clear Spray Paint. This will make it easier for guests to sign and gives it a finished look.

  Wedding Guest Book Complete

  I used a metallic gold Sharpie for signing names for the wedding guest book and it turned out wonderful!

  After the wedding, you can hang this in your home to remember your special day for years to come.

Wedding Guest Book Idea #2

Here’s another way you can make your DIY Wedding Guest Book.

I made this Round Wooden Guest Book for my sister-in-law who’s getting married at a barn in Washington this summer.

Instead of their two first names, I used their new last name “The Wilkinson’s.”

She wanted a lighter stain with black lettering and I think it turned out perfect!

  Wedding Guest Book Materials

  For this DIY project, you’ll need a Round Wooden Guest Book, stain, paint, chalk spray paint and clear coat, paint brush, foam brush, an old rag, glue and Sharpies.

• 

  Stain the Wood Backer

  Instead of the dark walnut stain, I used a lighter stain that has a more golden tone to it.

  My sister-in-law sent me a photo of a stain she saw online, so I mixed a couple stains we have in the shop to get the perfect color stain.

  Clear Coat the Wood Backer

  After the stain is dry, spray 2-3 coats of a clear coat to give the Wood backer a nice shiny finish.

  It makes the guest book look finished and polished.

• 

  Paint the Edges of the Letters

  Paint the edges of the letters with a paint brush, making sure you get into all the corners.

• 

  Sand the Face of the Letters

  Once the edges are dry, sand the face of the letter to get off any build up.

• 

  Spray Paint the Letters

  Use a chalk spray paint to coat the face of the letters.

  This will take 2-3 coats.

• 

  Glue the Wood Letters On

  I used Glue Dots to adhere the name to the wood backer.

•
