A business that makes silicone rings and watchbands for activewear is expanding its headquarters and manufacturing operation, barely a year after polishing off its relocation to Greater Nashville.

Groove Life Corp. plans to push its headcount to nearly 200 people within the next five years, which would be a 60% increase from its existing headcount. The $1.9 million investment includes upgrades to its current space — a renovated former high school — and revamping a newly purchased building nearby.

Company founder Peter Goodwin created the business in late 2015 in Alaska, where he was living at the time. He moved it to Spring Hill, near his parents, and held a formal ribbon-cutting at the start of 2019. The business employs 120 people today.

"We have been able to meet our needs and find every skillset required from right here in this area," Matt Mitchell, the company's chief operation officer, said in a state-issued press release.

The company is negotiating terms of a FastTrack jobs grant with the state. Those details will be available by the end of August, said Jennifer McEachern, spokeswoman at the state Department of Economic and Community Development.
