It sounds like you have setup SAML (SSO) to use RM Unify. It works on a Chromebook because SAML authentication isn't enabled by default.
Hello all,
At the school I go to we have RM Unify- we've had it for the past 3 ish years. We used to use Sharepoint/Office 365, but we are now moving completely over to G Suite.
All of the accounts are provisioned as normal via RM Unify into G Suite, but recently the school has set up an additional account for myself to use (and any other Digital Leaders). This was created directly in the G Suite Admin console, and I can log on fine through a Chromebook, but I can't log in on any other device. I go to gmail.com (as the account isn't in RM Unify), and I type in the email address, but even though the account IS NOT in RM Unify, it sends me to the RM Unify login screen. This is causing an issue as I will need to log into the account on a regular basis from a Windows computer (and occasionally a Mac).
Can anyone suggest what could be done here? I am beginning to think that the account needs to be deleted in G Suite, and then re-created in CC4, then it would allow me to logon through the network, and on RM Unify.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Theo

Hi,
On our Windows clients we do have SSO to RM Unify, but even on my Chromebook- I have my personal gmail account for home use, then I have my full time student account, then the Digital Leader account (like mentioned above). Obviously when I log onto the DL account, I can access everything perfectly, but when I log onto my student account or my home account I have no access whatsoever. However, the Director of Digital Learning has an admin account (not provisioned through RM Unify), and he can log on on any computer to Gmail.
I have a funny feeling that I would need the Digital Leader account moving into a seperate OU (possibly to the same OU as the admin account but no admin rights are granted).
Hope that makes sense. I have some staff training in just over a week and I need access to that account (all users now have SSO enabled). Again, hope that makes sense.
Admin accounts are excluded from SAML so that is why that account works.
I have no idea how your SAML works but somewhere that is the cause of the issue
I'll have a word with the Director of Digital Learning in morning to see what he can sort out. It may be he can organise for me to have a CC4 logon created.
Thank you anyway
You should be able to create manual accounts through RM Unify (CSV) if you don't wish to create an AD account or can't.
This is the way you'll have to do it to get it working - have the account in Unify either through AD or CSV.
Same with Office365 and Unify.
What does RM Unify provide you with that GADs and GAPs do (for free)? such as..provisioning from AD...and password sync....
Such as...Kerboodle...(No)....MyMaths (No)....Blippit (no) ...Flat.io (no) .... So none of the really good useful ones, just a load of old ones that no one uses - or some trivial new ones that cost a fortune and do very little..... Sorry getting increasingly cynical and grumpy ... I see schools investing in RM unify - to support all those packages that seemingly offer so much ...and then rarely does any school buy into any of the packages - and effectively only use Unify for G suite and O365...and they could have had that integration for free (and then complain they are short of funds...). Which packages do you pay for that work with RM unify?
Learn pad safetynet and RM support RM books SSO are handy, plus its simple to add your own shortcuts.
Good for the children as you can allow home access to eg RM books only.
As I'm only in school part time it's also peace of mind that there is support if I'm ill or absent.
I agree if you have good on site support with time to develop your own solution but for primaries it's not bad.
OK - not familiar with Learnpad ... perhaps its worth the £1000 (?) you pay every year for Unify.....
I wasn't aware that RM safety net requires RM unify to work....(which makes the cost of RM internet not so attractive...)
RM books...how much is this used? Do they use it with tablets in the classroom?
...RM support.....(so you don't have to type your logon details in....that is not worth the cost of unify...)
Adding your own shortcuts.....well athere are mllions of ways of providing links that students can access - including creating tiles in Office 365.
You certainly don't need to develop your own solutions..... there are ready made ones provided for Office 365 and Google. Download install and configure (just like you - or someone did to set up Unify).
I'm not saying it not worth anything....or isn't "handy"....its just that I think schools pay a lot for it - largely on the basis that it is potentially an "enabler" but then don'tgo on to make use of that - largely because the packages are n['t there.
...there are also other solutions like Mgaellan for half the money which does the same....
Hi. I am the Product Manager for RM Unify and is always good to hear a wide range of views about it. There are at least 20 IAMs in the UK education space right now, each providing a slightly different offer. This includes the native solutions from Google and Microsoft. I am sure that for some schools RM Unify might not be the right solution (although I am working on it!).
Every month we see hundreds of thousands of unique users completing millions of sessions through the RM Unify platform. Some of them use RM Unify as a fully automated cloud<>network provisioning tool driven by the MIS. Others use it for a more specific purpose. For a Primary School (<500 pupils) we currently charge £495.
