Accessibility

Accessibility is about making content available for everyone, including people who use different formats, modes or methods to access information.

  • Choosing accessible resources is a good practice that ensures ALL of your students can learn or access the information presented to them.
  • 1 in 7 Ontarians have a disability and 38% of people will experience either a permanent or temporary disability over the course of their lives. This means that in a class of 21, 3 students will have a disability that you may not even know about.

Considerations:

  • Screen Reader support (alternative text, tables)
  • High contrast, scaleable, clear text (
  • Alternative Formats (captions, transcripts, described video, braille)

Red/Green Tools

Red/Green Tools

  • Important reminders: Green tools (GAPPS, Moodle, MXWeb, TeachAssist) are covered by privacy agreements between the Ministry, the Board and the providers, or housed internally. Any other tool should be considered red and require caution, depending on how you’re using them.
  • Additional resources, including a parent consent template can be found on the BWW.
