Let me first state that I have been a member for over 50 years. I have had my final argument and disappointment with DCCU. They are never wrong and never apologize for the many mistakes they have made. This one was for charges placed on my Mastercard that I have not used in over 2 years. I had called them twice to inform them I didn't make these charges. I was told that the charges would be removed, but today I received a delinquent letter stating that I have a past due bill. DCCU is not a local members' bank any longer; they have grown too big and don't really care. I will be closing my account.
We’re sorry to hear this. We would like the opportunity to look into this matter directly. Zero stars if I could! Absolutely awful! They had a system problem with their debit cards not working due to 'maintenance.' During this, no alerts were sent out. I ran out of gas on my way to work because my card was not working. Then, due to the same issue, I tried to pay a bill and my card was declined—fine—only to have the same bill held on my account 13 times! Then they would not release my money. They knew they caused the issue and that it was an error, yet they held my money for four days, leaving me with nothing due to their 'system maintenance.' It's literally always something with this bank and I'm done! This was the final straw. Save yourself the hassle and never bank here. I will continue telling everyone I know how this was handled.
I'm very disappointed with this bank and their customer service. My family has been using them for a long time, but we will no longer be doing so. The customer service is terrible.
We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our customer service, and would like to learn more. Please email us at [email protected] with the best way to contact you, and a member of our leadership team will reach out directly. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

We have had an account with Dupont for 8 months and the experience has not been good! Even though our money is actually deposited on Wednesday's Dupont charges us overdrafts because according to them it is on Fridays. We also have an account with another credit union and they don't overdraft you if the money is pending! needless to say we will be leaving Dupont for this very reason!
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, Linda. We are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your experience at DCCU, and we'd like the opportunity to learn more. Please fill out a contact form on our website with the best way to reach you and someone from our management team will gladly contact you directly to discuss further: https://www.mydccu.com/connect/contact-us#contact.

I have been with Dupont credit Union for a few years. Recently had a friend approached me and asked me if I could cash a check for his boss who owns a construction company. HE had been to Virginia Beach that weekend and someone had stolen his wallet he had a company Check with his companies name on it in his vehicle and he didn't have a way to cash it because he didn't have his ID because of his wallet being stolen. He had no access to funds at the time and asked if I could cash the check for him . He looked legitimate was driving a very nice truck his name was on the company check as the owner of the company the check was for $1700. Assuming that Dupont credit Union would verify the check before cashing it was the whole reason I decided to do it for him. IF I would have known they did not verify the check I would not have cashed it. Well the check had bounced! Without hesitation Dupont Credit Union contacted the bank in question after the fact not before like common sense would tell you but after the check bounced found out the account the check had been drawn on was closed . IF they would have took two minutes to call the bank BEFORE THEY CASHED THE CHECK I AND DCC WOULD NOT BE IN THIS POSITION. So DCC immediately took $938 out of my account closed my account and said that I owed them another $900 because the check had bounced. And filed a lawsuit against me thier customer and a victim of a $1700 fraud . Incidentally the person in question that had me cash the check for them is in jail in Virginia Beach for similar charges issuing fraudulent checks. Why on Earth would any bank cash a check for $1700 without verifying it ? A practice the employee at DCC that contacted me about this matter Told me that NO BANK verifies checks before cashing them that it was invasion of privacy . Which is not true ! I looked it up ! Looks like an attempt to protect the clerk who did not verify the check before cashing it Wells Fargo Citibank, and several other banks verify checks before cashing them protecting thier customers and the bank themselves from fraud like this . LOOK IT UP YOURSELF there is nothing about violating someone's privacy rights it says it's a known practice and a very safe practice for the customer and the bank that apparently DCC doesn't believe in. But they are quick to pass judgment and take the money out of one of their customer's bank accounts without even questioning what had happened. Makes me think they thought I was somehow involved in defrauding them.
So unknowingly cashing a bad check has cost me not only my bank account, over $900 of my hard earned money and a lawsuit by Dupont credit Union for the remainder. but also Put a judgement on my credit because I can't afford to pay the remainder . All because of my trust that they would make sure that the account the check was drawn out of was open with the issuing Bank that would have prevented all of this! The thought of An institution that has millions of dollars in capitol going After one of their own customers over a fraud that was committed against them as well as the bank , then cleaning out my bank account and closing it without even knowing the circumstances and then suing me on top of it all after I've already lost over $900 is appalling! Where is the protection from fraud policies here ? Looks more like the credit Union cashes checks with no verification and then punishes and Vilifies the customer instead of protecting them if the check bounces Proves to me that Dupont credit Union does not care about their customers. Otherwise the check would have been verified like according to Google several banks Do regularly. I give a 1 star rating and would hope that thier low rating of 2 .5 stars gets even lower . So Maybe with such a low rating they will change thier policies that go after thier customers instead of protecting them . Whom ever is reading these reviews may want to think twice about banking at DCC or be sure you understand thier policies one in particular Not verifying 3rd party checks That would protect thier customers from this type of fraud . Another thing I wanted to say was for almost the whole time that I've been with Dupont credit Union when depositing my payroll check I can only get $200 from my paycheck UNTIL THE CHECK CLEARS!!!! isn't that ironic.! We have banked with DCCU for many years but recently have had fraud issues and issues with our rewards points not transferring. We are very disappointed. We have been trying to resolve this for at least two months with no prevail.
So my husband deal with dccu all the time. The 1 mortgage advisor we usually go through really gave us a different opinion of her . Who calls your spouse in a voice-mail to actually tell him he needs a different savings account without his wife's name on it ?? This was never discussed even between my husband and I at anytime. We been married almost 19 years and we don't have separate accounts, why would we unless we were jus dating or something. Lord knows who all this has been done to and maybe has had ot happen . Not good business to be in the position she has . We won't be dealing woth this 1 anymore .
I need my $75 returned and I need to discuss unfair business practices by DCCU! I know it’s not much but every dollar counts for me at this time. I’m seriously considering looking for another bank that will have my back and treat me fairly! The manager treated me poorly and unfair when an issue happened beyond my control. I would think that my relationship with your bank would be worth mor than $75! I feel appalled and unvalued as a customer and as a person from the poor experience that I recently received from 2 of your representatives. I feel that I have been targeted as someone that will except poor service and just be ok with it. I am working on immigration processes with my family for almost 4 years now and I don’t need your bank taking money that we need during this difficult time and especially now during the holidays. I’m trying to bring my family home so we can be together and we are struggling enough as it is and we need every dollar to pay for airline tickets and other travel expenses so we all can be together as a family. I would appreciate understanding and enough respect and kindness from your facility to return our $75 fee because it was not my fault that someone submitted a payment request to an account that I only use as a small savings account. I am the only person working in my family now because of COVID and I am supporting my wife, my daughter, my father in law and myself and I have to support 2 separate households due to COVID and health risks. Please do the right thing and help me in this time of need.
As this statement from this gentleman shows this bank does not care about their customers they're quick to take money

They are absolutely the worse. I just opened the account but will be closing it immediately. I connected an external bank then transferred the funds to this account however, the funds have not made it to this account after 5 business days and a weekend. The entire point of connecting external accounts is to have access instantly of those funds not to have your money in limbo and unable to use. Go ANYWHERE else it can't get any worse than this.
I have banked with this place since 2018. I am nothing but disappointed; despite being a "credit union", any monetary issue I have had was handled exactly the same as some uncaring corporate bank account. I applied for a credit card just last month, due to unexpected medical expenses, and was strung along for over a month more before being told I simply couldn't be helped because of my employment hours. Keep in mind that my full-time, direct-deposit job has been registered with DCCU since I started it in July 2019. This isn't the first time I've applied for some sort of credit help with them, either. My credit isn't even bad; I'm just young (25) and have nothing to offer aside from medical debt (less than $1,000) and my car loan, which has ALWAYS been paid on-time.
I fully believe that if this business wants to continue to operate this way, it needs to cut it out and start calling itself a bank. If you want a basic checking/savings, this place is fine. Anything more, however, and it's indistinguishable from any other soul-free, money-grubbing disaster. Until then, I can't recommend this place to anyone, because it's been nothing but an absolute disappointment. I'm currently looking for alternatives, and I will switch the moment something suitable is available.
TL;DR: DCCU is really bad for a credit union, find another union or settle for a bank.
