Founded in 2000, Just Hook Up is one of the largest and oldest operating casual sexual encounter sites. The philosophy of Just Hook Up can be seen in both its name and its slogan, “Get laid faster.”

The site lets you quickly establish a profile based mostly on what you’re looking for a in a partner: age, gender and location. From there, you can do a fast search (similar to a matching feature on other websites) that quickly lists everybody who meets your criteria nearby.

Users can communicate with others in a variety of ways, including sending personal messages, chatting and sending “winks” to other users. You can also see who favors your profile or “likes you.” At the time of this review, the site was also working on building a community section with both blogs and forums, although neither link was working properly; it is possible this will be expanded in the future.

The X-Rated nature of the website is also confirmed by the presence of live webcams ads, which redirect you to their related site, justhookuplive.com. There are also XXX content feeds, which are limited to premium users, and explicit porn website advertisements, so this is definitely not “work-friendly.” A downside of the site is the presence of advertisements, including “Fantasy Cupid” messages, which are sent by fictitious users for the purposes of advertising to you. Additionally, the “search” feature was broken at the time of this review, meaning the site worked far better for advertising other services than it did for providing a hookup experience with other users.

Sign-Up Process

The initial sign-up process is fast, with 14 checklist questions to fill out and two open-ended descriptions about your personality and interests. Filling your full profile out will take much more time; there are 40 different fields where you can fill out information about your favorite things in life, from standard questions like favorite books or movies to more off-beat questions like favorite airline, household appliance or software. One thing to note while signing up is that, towards the bottom of the screen, there is a “Send me special offers” button that is checked; uncheck this to avoid unwanted email.

Members/Interactions

You’ll find members using a few different features, including three scrolling toolbars showing “featured members,” “recently active members” and “popular members.” Users can exchange winks, chat with other members and organize other members by lists, and see who favorited or liked their profile.

Safety & Security

At the time of this review, the privacy policy, like numerous other pages on the website, was broken. JustHookUp does not display your real name and emails are hosted on their own internal server. Also, usernames are randomized to a certain extent, in order to protect the user somewhat.
