Hello there. Today I’m welcoming a new sponsor to this space, whose offerings extend beyond quilting to all kinds of crafty goodness.

Have you heard of Annie’s Kit Clubs? Annie’s began in 1975 and is part of a third-generation, family-owned group of businesses based in northeastern Indiana. They ship ready-to-make club kits throughout the United States and Canada. It’s a great way to experiment with different crafts, since everything is prepared for you, from materials to instructions.

What kind of clubs? Well, for starters - a fabric club!

With Annie’s Creative Quilters Fabric Club, you receive six beautiful and perfectly coordinated fat quarters every month. Each shipment contains variations in color, print, and style, all from America’s top fabric designers and companies including Moda, Timeless Treasures, Henry Glass, Northcott and more.

Build your fabric stash or use them to stitch the included bonus pattern! I think the project ideas they’re offering are pretty fun. You can see a gallery of past ideas here. This seems like a fun club for someone newish to sewing or to anyone who has trouble coordinating fabrics. I see that each month’s fabric shipment is custom-curated, and includes a nice variety from fresh florals to modern prints.

Stay Home + Keep Crafting

I can’t think of a better time to try a crafting kit subscription. In these times, shopping online makes so much sense. However, it’s hard for even experienced crafters to put together a project without seeing and touching the materials. Annie’s has been in the kit business for a long time. This is what they do, and they seem to do it well.

Annie’s kits are ready-to-go projects that you can pick up and start at a moment’s notice. Are you ready to try something new? Here are a few of the clubs that caught my eye.

Focused Clubs

Want to crochet or knit an afghan, enjoy a small knitting project, learn how to make cards or even jewelry? Annie’s has clubs focused on specific skill sets, so you can really dive into a craft and build on your experiences.

Some of these clubs delivery a stand-alone project every month. Other ones, like the Knit Afghan Club below, deliver installments on a larger project. Just as with quilt-alongs, having a set pace can be motivating and keep you engaged, not overwhelmed. In most clubs, you’ll also receive an introductory instruction booklet with your first kit (made for beginners), plus access to online video instructions and easy-to-follow tutorials.

Variety Clubs

Maybe you’d like a little more variety to keep things interesting? Annie’s also offers a few clubs which let you learn a new craft every month.

In the Creative Woman Club, experience crafts like painting, needlecrafts, beading, candle and soap making, mixed-media crafts and a whole lot more with each new kit. The projects could make lovely gifts or home decor, but as we know the value is also in the process. Relax and center yourself as you spend time learning and trying new handcrafts.

Hmm, I do think the club could be better-named “Creative People Club”, though. All are surely welcome.

One of Annie’s newer variety clubs, the Farmhouse Style Club, has a clean, natural aesthetic I particularly like. I’ve always wanted to make a winter holiday wreath from felt. This one looks lovely!

Kid Clubs

All the uncertainty of the pandemic makes this a challenging time for many youngsters. Perhaps a crafting habit can provide a grounding and empowering experience for the children or grandchildren in your life. Especially if they’ll be doing school from home this fall, a kit club may be something they can look forward to and enjoy safely from the comfort of home.

Annie’s offers two kits geared for children: Creative Girls and Young Woodworkers. A subscription would be a pretty awesome birthday gift!
