What is a biometric health screening?

A health screening provides an assessment of an individual's basic health status and offers valuable insight into one’s health risks. The screening consists of a finger stick blood test for cholesterol (total cholesterol, HDL and LDL), triglycerides, TC/HDL Ratio and blood sugar (glucose and HbA1C). Measurements of height, weight, blood pressure, waist circumference and body mass index are also taken.

How long does the screening take?

The screening takes approximately 20 minutes.

Do I need to fast for the screening?

For the most accurate results, you should fast for at least nine hours prior to your screening. You may have water, black coffee or tea (no sugar or cream) during the fasting period. No food. Continue to take your medication as prescribed.

Why should I get my biometric screening?

Your well-being is important. With the right information, you can be better prepared to address health risks that can affect the quality of your life.

Are the biometric screenings mandatory?

The screenings are not mandatory; however, annual screenings are highly recommended since they can often identify health risks that you can address before they become major problems.

Who is conducting the on-site biometric health screenings?

IU Health has contracted with TotalWellness to provide onsite health screenings. TotalWellness, an independent provider of worksite wellness programs, will be conducting the screenings. Licensed medical professionals will collect all measurements.

What is the Oracle Person Number and why do I need it?

Your Oracle Person Number is your employee ID for IU Health. It is needed to complete your health survey at your biometric screening. Screening points cannot be awarded to a team member unless that survey is completed so be sure to bring your Oracle Person Number with you.

Where can I find my Oracle Person Number?

To locate your Oracle Person Number log into the IU Health Team Portal and access your Oracle account. Click on the Personal Information App and then on Employment Info. Your Oracle Person Number will be listed within Employment Info under Person Number.

Who is eligible to participate?

All IU Health team members are eligible to participate.

What if I cannot make my scheduled appointment?

Please do your best to keep your appointment. If you know in advance that you will not be able to keep your appointment, please cancel your appointment. Simply not showing up for your scheduled appointment would prevent someone else from scheduling an appointment and attending the screening.

What if I cannot schedule an appointment for my desired location, date, & time?

If you are not able to schedule an appointment for you preferred location, date, & time, you may stop by a screening event between 8:00am and 10:00am to see if you can be accommodated as a walk-in. Walk-in appointments are not guaranteed.

What if I cannot attend an onsite screening?

An alternative to attending an onsite screening is the Provider Option Form. Set up an appointment with your provider to complete the form. Please follow the instructions on the form to submit.

What if I have already had these tests done by my physician?

If you had the necessary tests performed by your provider in the 2024 calendar year, you do not need to participate in a screening. Instead, ask your provider to complete a Provider Option Form. Follow the instructions on the form to submit.
