Just Energy plans

  • Secured-rate supply plans charge the same price per kilowatt hour or therm each month for the entire length of your contract. However, the monthly bill fluctuates based on how much gas or electricity you use. This plan is good for customers interested in protecting their price per kilowatt-hour or therm from changing, even when the price of the commodity changes in the energy market.
  • Variable-rate supply plans are flexible because you are not locked into a monthly payment. With this plan, the amount you pay for your electricity or natural gas is based on the current market prices for gas and electricity in your area.
  • Prepaid supply plans are similar to prepaid cell phone plans. You can purchase your gas and electric supply upfront without a deposit or contract. This is a good option for those with no credit or low credit or who are temporary residents. There are no long-term contracts.
  • Predict-a-bill plans let customers pay a fixed amount for energy each month based on average use. This budget-friendly plan keeps the monthly rate the same regardless of consumption.

The company also has more specific plans that customers can choose based on their budgets and energy consumption levels. Plans vary by location, but some of the most popular plans include:

  • Base Saver III plan: This is a budget-friendly plan with a fixed electricity rate as low as 7.6 cents per kWh when you use an average of 1000 kWh of power.
  • Just 400 Plus plan: This plan gives customers a $200 credit on their winter bills when energy consumption is the highest.
  • Just Energy Purely Green 24 plan: A 24-month plan that provides power from 100% renewable energy sources. It offers a fixed rate for the entire length of the contract.
  • Simple Rate plan: A 36-month plan that provides a fixed rate. This is ideal for those who want a long-term contract without any surprises or rate hikes.

Just Energy rates

The price of electricity is constantly changing, and rates vary depending on your geographical location. At the time of publishing, Hawaii is the most expensive market in the country for electricity at 34 centers per kWh and Washington state is the least expensive at 9.35 cents.

California, Massachusetts and New York rank as some of the most expensive places for electricity, which is why many people in these states turn to companies like Just Energy to help them cut costs.

For example, In Texas, Just Energy plans typically run anywhere from 10.4 cents per kWh to 12.3 cents per kWh at the time of publishing. To determine how much Just Energy can save you on your gas and electric bill, speak with a Just Energy representative for prices in your area.

There is no penalty if you cancel your plan within 30 days of signing, but canceling after that costs $50. There is also a one-time penalty (not to exceed 5%) on a delinquent bill for electric service. Other fees to consider include:

  • Manual payment fee: A charge assessed on certain products when a payment is made through a method other than JE-Aut0-Pay.
  • Disconnection fee: A fee assessed if your service is disconnected.
  • Exit fee: A fee assessed if your contract is ended early due to you breaching the contract.
  • Insufficient funds charge: A fee assessed for returned payments.
  • JustGreen charge: A fee for the level of JustGreen you select when signing up with Just Energy.

Just Energy's percentage rate was lower. I like it because late fees are a dollar. It goes up a couple of dollars if I’m late, and it's not that expensive. It's affordable and it doesn't stack up the more days I'm late. The only thing I don't like is the app. I have to call in to make a payment because they wouldn't let me submit the payment on the website. They wouldn't let me delete the card on file. And if I tried to pay with a different card, it wouldn't submit. But overall, it's a fair bill.

Their plans were pretty competitive. During my enrollment time, I had so many questions and they were patient enough and generously answered all the questions. Even after I got my first month bill, I had some more clarifications and were responded very quickly and very patiently as well. Just Energy should do more marketing because we only know about these things by word of mouth. We don't know there is a energy provider who is very competitive enough and giving us the competitive pricing.

I like that they send me a paper bill. The prices have been okay even though our bill has been 100. We understand because we use a lot of electricity. We use a lot and we think that we used a lot, and then the bill comes in, and we're like, “Wow, I thought it was gonna be higher.” As far as the representatives, I've never had one that's been mean. They've all been good.

    Just Energy charges me $5 every time I pay my bill via ETA or ETF. But I had somebody get into my bank account, so I have to pay it that way now. My previous provider wouldn't take a ETA or ETF. They wanted a credit card and I don't like to do that. So far, I like Just Energy and I have no problem with them. They answer the questions that I ask and they would switch me to a person when I pay my bill.

    Just Energy had a special promotion going on for Sam's Club members. They showed me the rates and it was a little bit better than what I had at the time. I went ahead and changed over to them. There was a no-deposit thing and they gave me gift cards for Sam's. My experience has been good. But I had to call because I was transferring and they didn't tell me about the transfer procedure. When I went to my other property, they said the meter is different so I had two bills at the time. I had to pay a final bill at the other apartment and then at the other house, I had to pay a new bill.

    Also, I don't like that whenever I have to speak to a supervisor, I have to go through three people and then the supervisor would still say the same thing. That's why I rarely try to call because it sounds like they just say the same thing. Also, I can't understand a lot of the things they say sometimes because of an accent, which is normal. I understand. But sometimes, we need to understand and make it clear. Otherwise, there's really no fix. But they were very professional.

    So, this is actually my fault for not reading before signing and just listening to the guy at Sam’s. I took his word for everything he said and now that I’m actually reading this contract, he lied about everything. Hope the service is better than the sales rep and the price is what he says it will be. Again, my fault for not reading and taking this guys word for what he was selling.

    Immediate, numerous red flags about this company. I was solicited while grocery shopping and misled with false information about Sam's Club promotions, coerced into signing up with an account I had no idea what it entailed, and never received any additional promotion as originally pitched. I have cancelled my contract and am hoping I do not get any surprise bills from them. Unless you're directly in the market for a third party electric billing service, DO NOT do business with this predatory company.

    I signed up on Mar 08, 2024, after my daughter said she had no complaints and would receive a $100 referral credit, however when I was signing up all of a sudden there was no longer any referral program, and then it changed to because you signed up at S...Club you can't qualify, so I corrected him to say no I didn't sign up with them and then his answer changed to that. This supervisor's mind was already made up and he was trained on how to respond to my type of inquiry. Customer Service was a complete waste of my/ our time as well as the Supervisor "Steven **" if that is real.

    The only benefit I can say that I was told (that I will receive due to their lie) is that if this service doesn't work out after my first full month, I will not have to pay a disconnect service fee for early termination. Let me just hope they honor that. Just like any well-known name brand, its name holds VALUE, so just let me say "Just Energy" is absolutely a misleading company, and its name speaks volumes but for me they are all negative...and this is my experience with Just Energy, make your own decisions!     I've been with this company for many years and had no problems like I had today. I will be all for the month of April 2024. It's close 27 hundred dollars. They are trying to say that because I made a due date Change back in March of 2023 is the reason why my bill is that high for April 2024!!! Make it make sense! I am on a monthly income and they said all they can do is have me make a payment arrangement!! The nerves of them to make us suffer for their wrongdoing and I can't do nothing but pay the bill and not pay another must have bill and put me in a hole. I have had times when I was unable to make payments on time due to hardship but I make sure that I pay them in full every month no matter what and this is how they say "we appreciate you for being a loyal customer"!! I can't believe how they are doing me...

    Hello, please DO NOT ever purchase electricity from this provider. They have the worst customer service ever and they literally hide the underlying information. You not only end up paying extra charges per month but also, there will not be any communication from them and they hand your details to debt collectors for fraudulent charges they make on your account. It will affect your credit score in a way you can't even imagine. I'm trying to let everyone know how worst their system is but I'm unable to drop a review on google. Have no second thoughts other than dropping your thoughts on dropping your plans on opting Just Energy.
