Is Medifast and Optavia the same?

The Optavia diet is owned by Medifast, a meal replacement company. Both its main diet (also called Medifast) and Optavia are low calorie, reduced carb programs that combine packaged foods with homemade meals to encourage weight loss. However, unlike Medifast, the Optavia diet includes one-on-one coaching.

Why is Medifast now Optavia?

In 2017, Medifast rebranded its Take Shape for Life program as OPTAVIA. This weight-loss program uses Medifast's frequent refueling approach to help dieters avoid feeling hungry throughout the day. There are three different OPTAVIA plans to choose from: Optimal Weight 5&1 Plan.

What is the difference between Nutrisystem and Optavia?

Nutrisystem promises quick results and has a dedicated NuMi app to help and guide you. Plus, as I mentioned above, Nutrisystem has plenty of prepared meals in the menu (read more about the meals above). Optavia, on the other hand, is more focused on counseling and provides a more personal approach to losing weight.
